Hi Experts,
I am trying to upgrade my system. Not much imp data is not there.
From ECC 6 to EHPI 4. Appl, basis, Abap to 604 level.
Downloading the stack file it self has taken 2 days on 2mbps line.
To complete all 8 levels in ehpi how much time it takes...?? Now we are at cofiguration stage. Just started preprocessing stage.
Os windows 2003, Db sql 2005. 4gb RAM and CPU i3.
Thanks
Hi,
Downloading of stack file does not depend upon your network speed.
There are no standard timeliness about how much time it will take to upgrade your system. It depends upon number of factors:
1) Number of technical usages you are upgrading to EHP4 level.
2) Number of background process you define during config step in upgrade.
3) number of R3trans processes.
4) Fine tuning of database parameters etc.
Thanks
Sunny

Hi Sunny,
Thanks for the reply. Here just sharing my views.
It MUST depends on network speed. We need to consider this.
And the factores u mentioned are comes under how to speed up the process. Any way we can do all, considering all yr system hardware, here ie 4gb only, But my question is very clear.
Based on basic setup like 4gb ram with normal upgrade, if experienced, we can say appromiximate time lines.

Even if we were to know things like how you have optimized the parallelization of processing and number of packages getting in we won't be able to give you a realistic estimate. What if the upgrade gets stuck due to some major error and you end up spending a day or so fixing it ? Just finished with a nearly full blown EHP5 upgrade and I lost 4-5hours fixing myraid issues..
So do sufficient dry runs on identical hardware and then figure how out much time you need !

Usually for upgrades like this you plan ahead, use a Sandbox, check that you have all the software required, check your timings, etc...
No one will be able to tell you accurately how long is going to take.
