hi all,
is there any type of error handling can be adopted in case if a record failed to be updated/created by MDM import server. eg. auto-email notification
thanks,
Shanti
How are you importing records in MDM?
If you are using MDM Adapter, it will fail in PI (Communication Channel Monitoring) if the import does not happens in MDM correctly. you can configure alerts in PI to trigger alert e-mail for this failure.
Thanks

Hi Shanti,
At MDM Level you can not have E-Mail Alerts for fialed Import Files, but at Middleware level you can configure your middleware to track the file posting and if any one is failing then you can have mail alerts.
Above scenario depnds what type of middleware you are using.
Thanks and Regards
Praful.
Hi Shanti,
Are you expecting the email when ever there is a file in the exception folder of the specific port or you are expecting a email when a record fails a validation which is in Data Manager?
if it is a file in the exception folder, then we need to use PI or OS scripts for triggering an email.
if its in record level, say if the records do not passes a set of validations, then we can send an email notification through MDM workflows

Hi,
There are several ways to send an email alert when a file is newly created in the MDM Import Exception folders -
1) Work with your basis team to use Solution Manager Diagnostics as per the below document -
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm71/helpdata/en/45/b42a768d562733e10000000a155369/content.htm
2) Ask your operating team to install a mail alert agent which can send files whenever a new entry is found in the exception folders.
Thanks.
