SAP MMC Dispatcher stopped

Hi experts,

I am ABAP developer. Not much idea of BASIS.

I have got SAP IDES ECC 6.0 EHP 4 Data Base : ORACLE installed by one of my SAP basis friend.

I have been using it since 6 months. I have come across through strange problem which my fBASIS Friend even tried for some time and said that my be its an OS issue we need to spend time on this. This forced me to contact experts.

Problem :

When SAPMMC is started , Dispatcher goes through the following stages

1. Running but not connected to message server

2. Runnig but dialog queue standstill

3. Stopped.

For your info Please find the trace file which I should produce before you ask for them.

Can't find free space for Shared Memory

Looks like the system cannot allocate any more memory.. You can try to add some additional swap space (Windows page file), decrease memory parameter em/initial_size_MB, or decrease the cache size of your database..

Hi Joshi,

10G swap is more than sufficient for your system..

You can check the size of the following parameters using transaction RZ11.

em/initial_size_MB

em/address_space_MB

You can decrease the size of these parameters with transaction RZ10.

Since you can't check your profiles via SAP transactions when your system is not running you can also check the instance profile on OS level..

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for your support.

The issue is now resolved.

While trying to find how to decrease memory cache I came across Date Execution Prevention tab in the system properties.

The radio button for - Turn On DEP for all programs and sevices except those I select - is selected.

Under that I could notice the DISP+EXE process and the check box is checked.

I have unchecked and now SAP MMC is running fine.

I have now decreased the virtual memory size to 10 gigs.(made it same as earlier)

Dear Jmaddela,

What I wanted to say is - This is wrong expectation.

This is a pure technical (BASIS) issue, Take help of BASIS guy and get it corrected.

Before this problem occured, the virtual memory size was 10 gig.
After that we have increased to 20 gig

I am not sure, based on which thumb rule you doubbled the size.

Hi Nick,

Unfortunately this was tried by one of my colleagues who is a BASIS guy.

This is just an attempt by him to check.

The reason being he suspected some process running which is consuming all the memory.

As this is my personal IDES I have to take help from experts like you to get solution for this.

I am very sorry if I am wrong any where. Let us not extend this further.

Request you to suggest some solution if you have.

Did you try reducing your virtual memory to 10G? Do you have enough space on your system?
