Dear Gurus,

I am going to install the BI 7.01 , for this i need to install SAP Netweaver 7.0 EHP -2 & then the BI Content support patches i have to apply .

I am installing the ABAP +JAVA system for BI 7.01 , so my question do we need a separte SID for ABAP & JAVA because this Netwearver 7.0 EHP 2 , or is this any procedure for it .

Thanks in advance

Dear Suresh,

I have installed BI 7.01 recently and I had to deal with the same issue, in fact there is no

option to install BI (ABAP+JAVA) in the SAPINST NW EHP1 any longer, but there is a

special workaround given in note 1181025 (for installing ABAP+JAVA).

The way we choosed was to install different instances ABAP and JAVA in one partition, which

meant using differents SIDs and NIDs.

Feel free to contact me for further details.

Hope it helps.

Thanks alejow for the reply .

Can you explain me the procedure for installing the BI server.

We have to install the ABAP first fully ??

then we have to go sapinist & install the java ???

I have one more query :

we have to install the both (ABAP +JAVA ) under 1 server or hostname ?? . Then what about the database & linking of ABAP & JAVA

Thanks in advance

Hi

Install ABAP instance first, then you can install JAVA Instance with other SID and other Number, You can install JAVA in the same any server. Then you connect the instances following the installation guide.

Suresh,

From SAPINST you have to install ABAP fully with one SID and listner port.

Once it is completed, you can start with Java then with a different SID and listener port altogether.

The sequence should be ASCS, then Database Instance, then Central Instance and finally Dialog instance.

Database will be installed for both ABAP and Java differently.

Regarding hostname, you have not mentioned if you are talking about physical hostname or virtual hostname.

Virtual hostnames must be different. But physical hostname can be same if you are doing the

instalaltion in same box.

Anyway, you have not mentioned whether it is a central installation or High Availability Installation.

Hope this clarifies.

You can put some points if you have got your answer.

Hi,

1.As of NW 7.0 netweaver Products will not be install on dual stack.(except XI,Solman).

2.First Install the ABAP(BI) system.

3.Install the BI(Java) System and configure the UME to the ABAP(BI) system

4.Material Number for BI System

Installation Export-1 51036859_1

Installation Export-2 51036859_2

Hi Suresh,

as far as i remember sapinst will ask you to select ABAP+JAVA for BI, with out java it wont go further.

any way select both and give the Different SID's for the ABAP and java.

why you are thinking to install java differently on ABAP stack.

I would install it under another SID for sure.. It's easier to distinguish between the instances..

Kind regards,
