Hi,

Try taking out the TNS_ADMIN variable.

But also make sure the listener starts OK using the tnsnames.or in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin

Make sure environment variables for user sidadm are correct.

You needn't try from DB13, unless you are able to run it as user sidadm.

Compare with environment of user orasid.

Is ORACLE_SID the same? (should be)

Is TNS_ADMIN the same? (not in every case)

Other suspicious differences?

Are you trying as sidadm and orasid from the same host?

Or are you in a distributed environment?

Is there a file /usr/sap/QAS/SYS/profile/oracle/tnsnames.ora ?

If so, check its content.

Dear Joe,

1) ORACLE_SID is same.

2) TNS_ADMIN is not set for orasid. it is set for sidadm.TNS_ADMIN=/usr/sap/QAS/SYS/profile/oracle

3) Yes i am trying from same host.

4) it is not a distributed environment.

5) do we have to check the content of tnsnames.ora as it is working fine with orasid user.

Please advice.

do we have to check the content of tnsnames.ora as it is working fine with orasid user.

I think we should find out whether orasid really is using the same tnsnames.ora file.

And I suppose Mark is thinking along the same lines.

I rather assume orasid is using a different one.

Look for a file with this name in /oracle/QAS, perhaps in /oracle/QAS/102_64/network/admin or similar.
