Hi,
Within our warehouse we have one area with fixed locations for some products, other products not. No clear physical separation can be made.
Is it possible to create one(!) storage type in which fixed and non-fixed can be stored while using one putaway strategy. If so, how to set this up?
Thanks!
Hi,
Point is that we want to keep the warehouse as flexible as possible. By using storage sections you still have to assign bin locations to a specific section.
Within a range of 300 bins we might only want to use bin 20, 35 and 231 as fixed. In the future we might want to use bin 22 as well for a specific article. Based on your suggestion of using sections we have to assign bin 20, 35, 231 and 22 to a specific section. Correct?
Based on your suggestion; is the storage type putaway strategy "F" (Fixed) or "L" (First empty bin)?
Thanks, Roel

Hi,
We've been down this road where we have an area of racking which also needed fixed bins (for fast moving products) and bins for random placement (for slow movers) and we divided it into 2 storage types: 1 with n number of bins for fixed bin strategy and 1 with n number of bins with addition to stock strategy.
Some of the bins are duplicated in both ST's, so that if the need for bins is more in the slow mover area, we can block the bins in the fixed bin area and open (unblock) them in the slow mover area. Practically it works very well.
Both ST's are filled with auto replenishment.

Hein
Hi
I am not sure why you only want to use one st type but if that is the case you could use st sections within the st type and then create st section indicators and apply them in the material masters
This will divide up your st type and alow some materials to go to one area and some to others
I hope that this helps
