Value Based Planning in DP

Hi All,

As we know, DP normally will plan the demand in Unit. However when Sales Department using DP, most of the time they will give their input in Value.

So do you have any experience and suggestions on how to make DP to support Value Based Planning? Will there be any restriction?

Business example, there is one product group PG1 including 3 products A, B and C. When sales put 1000$ for PG1, system should be able to break down to product level using proportional factor and we can get the Unit on product level e.g. A 100Unit, B 20Unit and C 50Unit.

Any suggestions on this are welcomed.

Thanks,

Bin

Hi,

I can propose two different aproach for converting pieces in values in BW environment:

- Extract data from live cache using standard tools (TX /SAPAPO/SDP_EXTR). load them into a cube or DSO and in the transformation of data target (DSO or Cube) apply the rule to convert the pieces to values. After then you load data from this infor provider into planning area (only for value key figures)

- Other way - much complicated one - is directly in live cache. You define a user exit macro and apply conversion routine in BAdI. You can disaggregate values and apply conversion afterwards or the other way around.

Hi Bin,

Its possible, my previous client has a forecast of price(=value) other than unit - please work on with your BI/BW team and discuss the transformation of characteristics of the data that were coming in to APO.

Cheers!
