SAINT or SPAM to apply a Stack ABAP

Dear SAP,

I have to apply SP18 to SP25 to my SAP Solution Manager EHp1 system.

I have calculated the import queue from SPAM, client 000.

1. ST-SER version 2008_701_2 were installed.

2. At the end of the calculation queue, the process asked me to install ST-SER version 2010_701_1.

I have opened SAINT to apply it (SAPKOBLR), but before applying it, I had to import different others SPs,

as for example, SAPKB70103, SAPBK704 ... until SAPKOBLR.

The calculation import queue has been started with SAINT instead SPAM.

My question :

Does it make any difference if you apply SPs using SAINT instead SPAM ?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Best regards

Hi,

From SAINT, you can only apply Add-on's. But for Support packages like Basis, ABAP etc. you need to apply from SPAM only.

Thanks

Dear all,

I wanted to apply SP18 to SP25.

ST-SER is inclueded in the queue. It was not possible to apply them before applying ST-SER 701_2010_1.

I have started SAINT and it has automatically calculed the import queue, including SAPKBxxx, SAPKAxx ...

I have started the import process from SAINT, but it is extremely slow.

I shoul have performance problem to access to /usr/sap/trans.

I think we can use SAINT to apply also SAPKAxxx, SAPKBxxx or SAPKNxxx SPs.

Hi Pascal,

You got all the SP's in SAINT because they are prerequisites for the Add-on, theres no problem to import it, but usually I do the basic components first like SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_APPL and SAP_HR via SPAM before doing the Add-ons, in anycase you have started the import in SAINT so now you should just let it finish.

To apply SP's you need to use SPAM. You can calculate the queue again from SPAM and once SP's are finished can comeback to SAINT and apply ST-SER. SAINT is used to apply Add-on and Plug-ins.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
