Netweaver 7.0 Java Stack on an shared Oracle RAC

Hello Oracle gurus,

one of my customer is planning to install his productive system (NW 7.0 Java on HP-UX) on a Oracle RAC shared with their ERP (different instances, same boxes). My question is if this type of configuration is supported by SAP. I've been searching in notes and SDN with no luck. Furthermore, are there any considerations before doing the actual installation of the new system?.

regards,

Manuel

Yes it is supported by SAP. As for installation consideration the way we did it was that we first installed the system with a single node and then RAC'd the system.

Hi Naveed,

Is there any official (i.e. SAP Note or guide for example) documentation on this issue?. As you probably know, SAP usually recommends the opposite. I mean, install production system in their own boxes.

Manuel,

Not sure if there is a note on this. We implemented RAC when it was a requirement from SAP to have the RAC configuration reviewed by them. Also in our early days of implementation we talked with SAP and nobody had concerns with putting multiple DB instances on Oracle RAC.

Again I have no documentation from SAP but we discussed the solution with SAP before implementing it. You can always ask you account manager or open message with SAP if you want something official.

Thanks,
