Route det at order and dly line items

Hi gurus

At order level route is applied to single item.

In delivery level route is applied to all items.

Can anybody explain with examples. am littlebit confused in previous threads answers in forum search.

Yes, Route is applied at the item level for the sales orders. So is the plant and the shipping point... The reason is that sales order can have different line items and each line item can be delivered from a different plant and a shipping point but can be ordered by a one sold to party.

However, the sales order line item becomes the delivery. When a delivery document is created, it is created for a single plant and a shipping point. Which says that you can physically deliver certain goods from one particular point and shipping point. Now, each delivery document will have a route. Which goes on to say that alll the items in each delivery will follow one particular route. If each line item of a delivery follows a different route, then, tracking of the line items are very difficult and you do not know where to load each of the line items of the delivery. Hence, you always have one route for each delivery.
