SAPSprint - unkown device %DEFAULT%

Hello,

we use already SAPLPD to print on workstations with a local printer. The printer ports of the local printers are as follows:

%DEFAULT%@hostname:515

The variable %DEFAULT% is resolved by SAPLPD to the default printer of each workstation.

Now we try to replace the old SAPLPD with the new SAPSprint. But SAPSprint cannot resolve the default printer (%DEFAULT%). In the logs were shown

unkown device %DEFAULT%

It works, if we replace the placeholder with the real name of the printer.

Is there a new placeholder for that?

Hi,

Don't use the "__DEFAULT" in SPAD in the field "Host printer". This is for frontend printers only. SAPSprint should only be used on print servers.

Check sapnote 1490273.

sapsprint runs with a local system user. this user don't know the enviroment of the registered user. if you use sapsprint on the client to connect a printer via lpd (port 515) you have to use the real name of the printer on the printserver instead of "%DEFAULT%".
