MaxDB 7.6 on SLES 11

Hello Experts,

I've checked service.sap.com/pam. However, I'm still a bit confused here.

I'm running content server 6.4 with MaxDB 7.6 on SLES 11 on x86 Intel based HW.

Is this combination officially supported by SAP?

In /pam, I could see Maxdb 7.7 is supported ! but not sure about other earlier version!?

Thanking you in advance for any help ..

Rgds,

Sheikh

Hello,

The safer option is to upgrade your MAxDb to the latest release.

Hi,

Thanks for the updates ...

I need to upgrade Maxdb from 7.6 to 7.7.

Any idea from where/how I can download Maxdb 7.7 for use with SAP applications?

I've check in service.sap.com/swdc, but could not find any sw for download !

The below link in SDN is not for SAP use as stated clearly.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/downloads?rid=/library/uuid/00560c8a-afd3-2b10-3eb1-cc30cda867fa

Appreciate any hint in this regard ...

Thx

check https://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain -> MaxDB -> 7.7 Installation/Update packages available here.

To update MaxDB http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_6/0e/70683c40e87520e10000000a11402f/content.htm

Hi,

Thanks everybody for the help.

But I'm still not able to find this path MaxDB 7.7--> Installation -->SAP DB !

I'm a bit confused here because What I could find in your link is the same as what I could see in service.sap.com/patches.

Below files what I could find for x86 - 64bit

MAXDB7707_28-10004355.SAR MAXDB 7.7.07.28 Server Package (127134kb) 28.01.2011

MAXDBART7707_28-10004355.SAR MAXDB 7.7.07.28 Application Runtime Package (62970kb) 28.01.2011

MAXWEBJ7707_28-10004355.SAR MAXDB 7.7.07.28 Web Services Package (22854kb) 28.01.2011

Are these files are the correct ones for my MaxDB upgrade from 7.6 to 7.7?

Apology for this confusion and thanking you in advance.

Hi Sheikh,

Yes these packages can be used for installing new DB software or upgrading the existing MaxDB software to 7.7.

The difference lies in running SDBINST or SDBUPD command.

The SAR packages need to be extracted using the SAPCAR command and then run the update using the SDBUPD command as in the help link.

Hello Sheikh,

if a certain combination is not explicitly reported in the SAP Product Availability Matrix, then it is not officially supported by SAP.

Your combination is not present in PAM, so your system probably works well, but SAP might not support you in case of problems.
