Overview of SAP Install Base by Hardware and OS

Has anyone found, or happens to have a good .ppt or overview of SAP Install Base by OS? We're running a single instance on Sun Hardware, if we have the need to add additonal capacity, we plan to use RHEL. But overall, I am curious to see small company to large, how is the app tier database tier usage by hardware and OS platforms in terms of use cases.

Hi Al,

this is SAP confidential information, which we cannot share. However, most companies that start with Linux use it as application server while leaving the database on the *NIX system. After being comfortable with Linux, they usually more the database as well to harmonise their landscape. But, other customers stick with their *NIX system.

Actually, the underlying operating system doesn't matter much. It's your IT staff that has to operate it and therefore it's up to them.
