VDS installtion on Unix or Windows ?

Hi Experts,

We have NW IDM 7.1 installed on HP UX with Oracle 10.2. We have installed the MMC on a local windows desktop.

We are planning to use Virtual Directory Server for connecting / intergrating with SAP GRC Access Control for Risk Analysis.

What is the best place to install VDS ? ICan we install it on Unix , if yes how do I access the VDS UI ? e.g. Haing a UI on my local desktop and connecting to VDS on UNIX....just a guess...

Or is it mandatory to install it on a windows server ?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,

Shailesh

Shailesh,

VDS can be installed in a Windows or *NIX environment. Works fine in either since it uses a JAVA front end and not MMC like IC does.

Shailesh,

It should not matter all that much, however best practice would be to locate the Virtual Directory Server as close to the GRC system as possible, so that might influence you.

Like Matt said.

Technically it sould not really matter.

However it might be a "poltical" decition in your company.

Yes, this is almost always a political question and a potential contentious discussion.
