db2fmp consumes more than 90% CPU

DB2 v9.5.0.4

AIX 5300-08-02-0822

I've problem with db2fmp that consumes over 90% of CPU

I found some reference to set KEEPFENCED=NO that should solve this issue, but it doesn't help us.

We have several systems with the same configuration, but this one is the only one having problem.

I just did an upgrade from R3 470 ext 200 to ERP60 ehp4. I this system the downtime was ten hours, in an other system the downtime was 4 hours, db size is almost the same. I guess this process is one of the reasons.

Any ideas?

Hello Carl-Johan

can you check, whether the process consuming CPU is a db2acd process ?

ps -ef |grep <process-id>

The the following may help:

[IC63012: THE DB2ACD PROCESS SHOWS HIGH CPU USAGE|https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IC63012]

Hope this helps, Hans-Juergen

Hi,

Yes it is! I was a little bit confused, because my user is named db2acd as well!

Name PID CPU% PgSp Owner

db2fmp 639226 98.0 10.2 db2acd

db2acd 6> ps -ef |grep 639226

db2acd 639226 1 120 Feb 07 - 8861:41 db2acd 0

The problem is that we are on 9.5.4 and there is no plan for upgrade DB2 to 9.7 yet.

Thanks anyway, I guess I've to push for an db2 upgrade.

Do you know if it's possible to kill this process or what is it used for? As far as I know we don't use Admin Task Scheduler

as mentioned on the page.

Sorry..

I found that one as well. I'm trying to get the project to accept the FP6a.

Thanks!

Give this a try -> IY70367: HEALTH MONITOR DISPLAYS SEVERE ERROR MESSAGES IN THE DB2DIAG.LOG DUE TO CORRUPTED REGISTRY

https://www-304.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg1IY70367

Dosn't really seem related at first, but is an easier fix than rolling out some db2 fix packs. I was also having trouble with db2fmp hogging cpu (v9.5 fp5), and I found some of the db2diaglog messages mentioned in IY70367. Decided to try re-creating the health monitor registry, since then (over a week) haven't had any db2fmp problems with that database.

Following is also worth reading ->

Good Luck
