ESS / MSS Cofiguration dependencies

Hi

We are planning to implement ESS /MSS for our client. Can some one please suggest me the pre-requisites for implementing ESS / MSS.

For which we have installed EP 7.01 with support stack is SP3 and ECC 6.0 is running on SP stack 16.

SAP_HR 600 53

EA_HR 600 7

Can you please let me know what are the dependencies we have to consider in the backend system and EP. Any useful sap notes and help links, wikies are appreciated.

I have gone through google and find some informaion however I am not very much clear on this how to proceed further as I am first time doing this activity.

Hi,

There are quite a few steps you need to execute for succusful ESS/ MSS configuration.

1. Import the business packages for ESS/ MSS on the portal. The files are available in http://service.sap.com/swdc

2. Import the ESS and MSS packages. This can be found in http://service.sap.com/swdc->; My Company's Application Components-> SAP ERP-> SAP ERP 6.0-> Entry by Component-> SAP XSS (Self Services)

2. Connect the ABAP backend to the portal by going to System Administration-> system Configuration-> Portal Content. You need to define connector, WAS and User Administration properties

3. Define system alias.

4. Ensure connection is succusful.

Thanks for your prompt responce.

Can you please tell me what are the dependecies we have to consider at Backend and EP systems.

EP system version is 7.01 SP3

ECC is 6.01 SP stack 16

SAP_HR 600 53

EA_HR 600 7

Are there any notes or sap help links to check the depencies with backend and EP systems. Before deploying ESS /MSS packages are there any dependecies we have to check ? like updating certain software components like EA_HR , SAP_HR.

Please suggest.

Hi,

Yes, there are precise dependencies between EP and ECC systems for ESS/MSS.

This is a big problem of ESS software architecure : each time you will import some HR SP in your ECC6 system, you will have to check and often to upgrade ESS...

I think this is one of the main reasons why SAP is reprogramming ESS in ABAP web dynpros in EHP5.

Now I got an idea after I had a look at the wiki. I will consolidate all dependencies and get back you incase if i need any help.
