PARTNER FUNCTIONS AND PARTNER TYPES

Please can some one post in details difference between partner functions and partner types.

The partner type allows to categorize the business partners in the business process. For example, Customer, Vendor etc

The partner function defines the rights and responsibilities of each business partner(partner type) in a business transaction and always refers the partner types. For example, in partner type Customer, based on responsibilities there can be sold-to, ship-to, payer partner functions.
