SAP Kernel Version in SAP Component

Former Member

Hi to everyone

I have a simple question.

When you have an Early Watch Alert report. There is a column about "SAP Components". There is "PI_BASIS", SAP_BASIS, SRM_PLUS.

SAP_ABA, SAP_AP, SRM_SERVER, ST-A/PI, ST-PI.

Which component is referred to SAP Kernel?

Is SAP_BASIS, or which one?

Regards

In the EWA report the kernel information will show up in its own section called SAP Kernel Release, there it will tell you the release and patch level of the kernel.

Hi to everyone.

I have another question related to Kernel Info.

Inside SAP environment, is there any transaction which informs me about if my operating system is running on 32 bit/64bit and if my SAp system is Unicode/NonUnicode?

Thank you

Hi,

In the SAPGui, from menu select 'System' -> 'Status'. Here you could see if the 'Unicode' status is shown as yes or no.

In the same screen 'Host data' shows information about the operating system.

Tcode SM51 -> Release notes gives info about the kernel -> unicode or non-unicode.

Tcode ST06 -> Operating system collector -> Status give info about the OS.

Hi,

In addition, you can run Tcode os07n in your SAPGUI to know all details about your host.

Hi,

Kernel and components are seperate entities.

SAP kernel is a set of executables which act as interface between the SAP system, operating system and the corresponding database. Overview of SAP Kernel : http://www.easymarketplace.de/sap-programs.php

SAP Components or referred to as SAP Packages are SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA etc. These contain objects depending on the type of package which can delivered to the customer. The objects can provide business logic and technology details as well.

Objects are usually programs, reports, function modules, classes etc or tables, structures, data elements etc.
