Upgrade restrictions - WAS 6.20 / R3 4.70

Hello,

We are working under a WAS 6.20 + R3 4.70.

There is a business need to upgrade WAS 6.20 to a Netweaver plataform (NW 7.01) but it will still keep working with R3 4.70.

Are there technical restrictions to upgrade only Basis tier from 6.20 to NW 7.01 and keep using r3 4.70?

Hi,

Sorry but what you want to do is just impossible.

R/3 4.7 only runs on WAS 6.20 with a choice of 6.20 kernel or better 6.40 kernel.

If you need to run NW 7.01 you will have no other choice but to upgrade to ECC6 EHP4.

PS : The independance of functional layers from technical layers is just a marketing dream...
