Printer device type for Ricoh MP3351 LX03 report and other color ABAP list type reports headers too light to read. Using SAP R/3 4.7 with Windows 2003 server and Ricoh MP3351 PCL5 driver, tried RC001118 device type and ZA001006 device type we have and closet we get is either LX03 prints grayscale so light you can't read headers which print yellow on a color printer, another one was ZA001024 LX03 printed all black text ok but then ZBOL Bill of Lading had issue with text printing on top of box lines in upper right of it. Any idea on what driver, device type and settings to get the color reports to all print correctly on this type printer as all black text like they did on the old Ricoh 3035 it replaced which only printed black and white, Ricoh 3351 prints grayscale.

Hi Mark,

Sorry, but your device types are not standard.

I'm not expert, but if your printer is using PCL-5, then you should send data in PCL. Test one of the HP* color device types (HP9500 for example; don't forget to check the "color" flag of the output device), and if it doesn't work, try one of the B&W HP* device types (HPLJ5 for example).

Did you ask Ricoh if they propose a SAP device type for this printer model?

If you want to adjust the colors, why don't you copy a device type and adjust its print controls COL* to see the effects ?

Best regards,

Sandra

We ended up setting up 2 printer names with the 2 device types mentioned before and using it this way one prints ZBOL bill of lading correctly, the other prints all other reports like LX03 as all black text.

Finally we found driver for Ricoh MP2000 PCL and ZHPLJ4 device type work for Ricoh 3351 and Ricoh MP2000 to print all documents correctly with one printer name setup.

Hello

In future be aware of the SAP PVP:

With the SAP Printer Vendor program (see SAP Note 1130927) printer

vendors are empowered to build device types for their printers in a

well-defined and well-integrated manner. In SAP Note 1100779 you will

find a list of all members of the SAP Printer Vendor program. Each

member of the SAP Printer Vendor program has a SAP Note (Printer Vendor

Wizard Note) in which they can provide information about new supported

printer models. For a full list of Printer Vendor Wizard Notes please

check SAP Note 1097990.

In case your printer model is not listed in the Printer Vendor Wizard

Notes, please proceed as described in SAP Note 1103826.

Regards.

Yes, We are aware of the Printer Vendor Program and tried the Ricoh SAP Note device types like RC001118 and drivers recommended which didn't work for all reports with one setup of driver and device type. Also we are too far behind on support packs to use the printer vendor wizard in SAP R/3. All our tech support Ricoh and SAP were telling us to edit reports to make them print correctly then and most are SAP standard reports that print in color. We decided not to edit reports and used 2 printer setups for 3351 with 2 device types to make everything print at first. Wasn't until we had another Ricoh Tech Support person in for setup of a Ricoh MP2000 printer which worked that we had them look at 3351 model again and got it working with the MP2000 driver and HPLJ4 device type, which the 3351 driver didn't work with HPLJ4 device type. Maybe it's just the support people we had but testing a bunch of driver and device type setups with no success is very frustrating and it's not the first time we've had printer setup issues like this in SAP R/3.

Use Ricoh MP2000 PCL5 driver and copy of HPLJ4 device type for Ricoh 3351 and Ricoh MP2000 printers to print all documents correctly as all black text.
