Recover Database from Disk Backup

Hello Experts,

I have lost all data from Server because Operating System crash.

But I have taken a Disk Backup yesterday.

Question.

1. How to recover / restore database into new system ?.

2. Should we installed new SAP application and database for restore / recover ?

your answer will be appriciated.

Hi,

please be more exact: Means a "disk backup" a database backup to disk, or a backup of your whole disk to anywhere?

You'll not be able to recover your database from a backup of your whole disk, except it has been offline during the backup. To recover from a database backup to disk, please have a look in the documentation.

yes,

I have taken database backup to disk. It is around 80 GB .

Please guide me restore / recover database from backup into new server

Start sapinst, select "system copy" and "backup/restore" method. The database software will be installed and sapinst prompt you to restore the database. Use DBStudio or DBMGUI to restore the database and go on with sapinst.
