Hi Gurus,

In order to support redlining by partners they need to have the ECL viewer installed locally. What is the best way of distributing this viewer to the partners? Is there any licensing involved?

thanks

Hi Rahul,

Not quite sure about options available for ECL viewer mass deployment apart from standalone installation.

However,we encountered a similar scenario wherein there was need for some occasional users(read certain external partners) to provide feedback on drawings and specifications.Hence,we would have the collaboration owner initiate an online conference(notify details through e-mail to attendants) with the design partners via WebEx and capture feedback. During the online meeting,the collaboration owner would use the ECL viewer/integrated redlining function to add comments to the relevant documents/drawings electronically. The design partners could then see these comments and approve/comment straight away.

Regards,

Pradeepkumar Haragoldavar

Hi Pradeepkumar

In the standalone install of ECL viewer ( for redlining in cfolders) on a vendor machine, is the ECL viewer install sufficient? Or is there a requirement for the SAP GUI to be loaded as well? I know this would contradict the standalone concept, but I have been reading SAP notes where viewer files are stored in the SAP GUI installation folder. So if the GUI is not installed I am wondering if thats an issue.

thanks,

Rahul

Rahul;

You have to instal the ECL Viewer in SAP GUI, and in SPRO have to config the viewer of Document Types (1 View, 2 Edit & 3 Print). I used with DMS (Document Management System).

First Install EL Viewer in a Client workstation.

I recommened to use ECL Viewer to view document and use the %auto% to use the software installed in the client machine.

Customizing (CA-DMS-EAI), this link would be help you:

The files need to be in a server "visible" to theo other users. I don´t know if you archive the files.

Mariano.
