Common customizations to identify system types

Hi,

Can some of you provide me with inputs on the kind of screen customizations that you would opt for to indicate to the users a particular kind of system. Example Prod system would have a splash screen that says Production ?

I have been asked by the client to come up with a list of things that can be done so that users do not accidentally "screw up" systems they shouldn't (since we will begin UAT soon), and I can only think of a splash screen and instructions in the login screen (client number, type etc.).

Would any of you recommend any other 'customizations' ?

I would like to paste an information message on login screen which shows some warning kind of message.
