Hi All,

I have the root password but don't have the password of <sid>adm and ora<sid>.

We work of HP_UX 11.31 and database is oracle 10g.

Can anyone suggest how to rest the password of both these two users.

Your help will be highly obliged.

Thanks & Regards,

Ashutosh

Sure, just enter the command passwd <sidadm> and you are requested to enter the new password for this user.

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for your help, with the command I am able to change the password of <SID>adm,

After that I had restarted the SAP and it went fine.

A bit concern is that if I will try to do the same for ora<sid> will there be any issues in database startup.

If yes, then is there any command that needs to be run after changing the password of ora<sid>.

Please guide.

Thanks & Regards,

Ashutosh

No, that's no problem at all. You can just change the orasid password.

Above one is the way to change the password of any user, But what is the purpose of this change?

Are you performing any specific activity with SIDADM or ORASID?

Because I have a specific (Non-Root) ID from where I can switch to the above users. So I never needed to change the password of above users(Other than during DB level/specific activities).
