External device’s (e.g. Weighbridge) output to be linked directly to SAP

Hi, Experts!

Weu2019re in cement industry and we use weighbridge system to capture the weight of the cement to be delivered to our customers. Our weighbridge system currently runs in an external interface to capture the weight, and a report is to be downloaded from this independent interface, which will later on be uploaded to SAP to perform Goods Movements.

Since there is no direct link from the weighbridge to SAP, our current solution imposes complications to the process. Plus, there is too much human intervention in the process, posing high risks from human error.

For such scenario, I would like to know different options, in order to directly connect the Weighbridge readings to SAP, without any manual conversions (download/upload reports).

Weu2019ve searched different forums, and were able to find out about setting up RFC Port connection, BAPI, IDOCS, SAP PI, programming a new Z-Program/Z-Table.

Can you recommend the best approach for such scenario? Also, can you help provide step-by-step guide on how can we proceed with the proposed solution? Any recommended 3rd Party consulting services to do the configuration/coding part?

Thanks in advance. Have a great day.

Cheers!

Raph

We understand your process very well.

One of your problems is reliability and the other user friendliness.

Does your WB save a weigh-ticket on a PC or local disk? Do you have also a Purchase order (PO) in SAP to match the weighing? Can you identify the truck with barcode, RFID, or other means?

We have a very reliable solution that connects on-line the collected data: weigh-tickets, delivery scanned documents, and matches them with the PO, so that the SAP user has only to validate the collected files n the screen.

This is done with the Integrated Services ERP Connector (ISEC). Have a look at [SIP Ltd > solutions >ISEC|http://www.sip.com.gr:8081/triboni/exec/x/gr.sip.site.display/xsl/display/displayChapter/solutions/displaySubChapter/ISEC/page/chapter.html]

I will upload a ppt shortly describing how it works.

Maybe this helped?
