Hi All,
This question refers to the level of support offered to the flex front end, specifically with respect to the fixing of front end bugs.
Through testing of the front end, I've noticed some bugs - no show stoppers yet.
Given that the front end is compiled as a single SWF file, clearly support will take a very different shape to how fixes are applied to the ABAP stack.
Should we expect support for identified problems to be addressed in a similar fashion to the way in which Java problems are addressed? What sort of turn around times can we expect for identified issues?
Many thanks for any help you may be able to give.
Neil
Hi Neil,
SAP will provide support for both SPM UI (Adobe Flex) and ABAP bugs. And the bug fixes for these 2 components will be supported differently.
ABAP bug fixes are resolved using OSS notes that can be fixed and released individually. And all of them are collected and merged either in a Support Package or Patch.
UI bug fixes cannot be fixed like ABAP bugs are fixed. Since the UI is a compiled code (like you identified correctly), if its a very critical issue then we will deliver a high priority fix (or hot fix). If its not a critical issue then all the UI bugs are collected and fixed in bunches. The UI bug fixes are part of portal and not ABAP, unless the bug is so that it needs both flex & ABAP fixes.
The time line is typically a UI patch is released once a month (if needed) or once a quarter a Support Package is released. Also UI bugs its beneficial to provide 'httpWatch' trace which indicates what is passed over the network and what the system is trying to return.
Hope this helps.
Rohit

Hi Neil
This platform (Forums on SDN) is meant for a community discussion and exchange of ideas - questions usually revolve around "How to" type format.
The only official means of communication for bugs/product issues is thru OSS, SAP's bug communication system.
Just like all of the other products offered by SAP, the response time for messages filed thru OSS is in general dicated by the Service Level Agreements (SLA). Pls check your SAP SLA for further details.
Regards
Rajesh
