Hi,
we are looking at upgrading our ECC6 system from Oracle 10.2.0.2 to 11g Release 2 in a RAC environment.
From the doco we have been able to obtain it is clear that there are some major changes involved, and I am interested in whether anyone has successfully completed such a project who can share their experiences, especially as regards the initial preparation from the network side.
We want to use GNS as recommended by SAP but the doco (we have a white paper from Oracle dated April 2010) is rather confusing in terms of allocation of ip addresses / use (or not) of DHCP etc..
Any hints / knowledge / war stories gratefully received.
Regards.....John
Hi!
Upgraded a 10.2.0.4 2-node RAC with ASM to 11.2.0.1 a year ago. Was a not-SAP db, but the upgrade are not that special for databases running SAP.
Due to network, You need at least for each node:
1 public ip
1 privat ip
1 vip ip
--
3 ip for scan listeners
We did not install GNS, using our DNS servers instead.
