saposcol.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.

Some days ago I successfully installed trial version 7.02 on a virtual Windows XP: Host Windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Immediately after installation I created SAPLOGON, started the system using SAPMMC and logged on as BCUSER in client 001. I did some work and everthing was fine.

Two days later there is an error message when XP mode has started:

saposcol.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.

If I try to start the system using SAPMMC it turns to green but shortly after that it is yellow.

there are more messages and I stop to give them all.

Does anybody have an idea how I can solve my problems? Why does the saposcol error occur when I start XP?

Since DB seems down, you can check the following thread. It explains how to bring up MaxDB. Hope it helps.

Hi Otto,

Logs show that the connection to DB is not successful. Please make sure the database is up and running.

For the SAPOSCOL issue, I would recommend to check the Event Viewer log of Windows XP by running the command "eventvwr" and check for SAPOSCOL service related errors.

the windows event viewer shows following message:

database MAXDB is never running. If I look to taskmanager processes before I start SAPMMC I see saposcol, sapstartsrv (with username sapadm), sapstartsrv (with username SAPServiceNSP) saphostexec, and msg_server running.

If I start SAPMMC I see work processes running but no MAXDB process.

If look to syslog I see ten info message then an error message occurs:

Communications data: Service initialization failed

Then there are six more info messages, then warning:

Process type S6 Database: SQL error -1070 occurred (possible network problems?). Work process is stopped

and warning:

Process type B5 Database: SQL error -1070 occurred (possible network problems?). Work process is stopped

Then error message:

Database: Database error -10709 at CON

Database: > Connection failed (RTE:[5] database not running)

SAP Basis System: Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256

Then warning:

Database: SQL error -1070 occurred (possible network problems?). Work process is stopped

Hi Otto,

Please check the MAXDB kernel logs at /sapdb/data/wrk/<SID> for the cause of DB error.

Once the MAXDB is up, then the SAP system could be functional.

thanks for your help, there is many information in this logs, too much for me

I spent so many days installing the trial and much more time to get it started....all for nothing.

The best thing I can do is delete all that trial stuff and enjoy live...
