MARC-VMTRA Exceeded by XX UoM. M0722 (GR against STO / OD using Mvmt 101)

Hi!

Created STO. Created Outbound Delivery (OD), Did GI against OD using 641 Mvmt. All these activities carried out, let us say Nov 2010.

Now, when trying to do GR against OD or STO, If I enter the Posting Date as 01.01.2011 or any date in 2011, it is fine. However, If I Enter the Posting Date as 31.12.2010 or before I get an error message as below:

MARC-VMTRA exceeded by 5.00 EA : 30000261 5100 MA11

Message no. M7022

Diagnosis

The specified stock level or quantity is exceeded by 5.00 EA.

Note: Checked the GI Date (GR date is after GI Date), Material Master, STO, Checked the Stock in Transit (Stock is available there).

Please advise what might be going wrong.

this message is issued if you try to receive more than you have in transfer stock of the previous period.

Use SE16 and check the field VMTRA in table MARC, it will tell you how much stock in transit you have currently in december.

(currently in december sound odd, but as you can post into previous period, you can reduce the previous period stock throughout the current period., maybe you have already posted other receipts with reference to previous period stock)
