Hi Afiza,

Welcome to this RFID forum on SDN.

If you could explain your scenario a bit detail, than we all would be in a better position to help you more specifically.

Thanks,

Hi Pawan,

Thank You for the reply. Well the scenario is like this. One of my user wants to use handheld device while doing physical count in the warehouse. On top of that he also wants to use a bar code scanner to retrieve the material number as well as counting the material. with this in place the user will not have to count the material manually and then later input the counted data back into the system.

If this is possible how will the connection be between the scanner device and the handheld device.

Thank You.

Afiza,

Generally both scanner and handheld come in one device.

What type of handheld device is your user using? Depending on the handheld device, you have to choose the scanner.

Visit www.symbol.com to view different scanners.

Hi Afiza,

It is definitely possible and the

implementation will vary accordingly

depending upon the devices which you

use and the business logic.

SAPConsole and WebSAPConsole

SAP offers two options for connecting

RF-linked mobile terminals to the SAP mainframe: SAPConsole andWebSAPConsole.

Both options are designed for

within-the-four-walls applications and

assume an always-on RFlink back to SAP R/3.

SAPConsole translates SAPGUI pages into

text-only pages for character-based terminals.

WebSAPConsole provides a similar interface

but maintains the SAPGUI look for mobile terminals running Windows CE or other graphics-capable

operating systems.

SAPConsole and WebSAPConsole are shipped

with SAP R/3, offering companies a single

source of support for both text and graphical

display terminals that are standards-based.

Being standards-based, they provide

vendor independent support for a variety of

RF devices.

SAP's ERP Warehouse Management functionality

offers a number of "pre-configured" RF

transactions that are accessible by both

SAPConsole & WebSAPConsole.

These transactions include the most common

transactions and simplify the set-up and

configuration of mobile terminals.

Since each application is different and

pre-configured modules cannot be provided

to cover every contingency, both options support transaction development using SAP's standard

Advance Business Application Programming

(ABAP) and SAP Graphical User Interface (GUI).

This provides a single source program for efficient testing and maintenance of programs and transactions

on both mainframe and mobile terminals.

It also allows testing of programs on

desktop terminals before deployment to RF-linked terminals.

User-created transactions (or “dialog programs”)

are linked to existing transaction codes

and organized on a specialRF menu that is

created and maintained in the SAP

configuration area (the “IMG”).

The RF menu can contain bothSAP's

pre-configured as well as user-defined

RF transactions.

You can go throuh the forum thread mention below:

These links are regading sap console installation

and RF screen programming which will probably

help you to decide the implementation and later

help you in the actual implementation.

I suppose this should answer your query.
