BEx 3.x shortcuts (.3xbex) don't have associated program [WinGUI 7.20]

Hello,

Since we upgraded SAPGUI to 7.20 (in particular SAPGUI version is 7200.1.1.1051) across the whole company, our link to launch BEx Analyzer from a Portal (based on SSO) is not working ok. That link basically tries to execute a BEx 3.x shortcut file (RRMX.3xbex). End users are then getting a popup error windows saying (literally):

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

I could not find any program included in that SAPGUI version being able to open those shortcut BEx files. If you can point me out to the right one or either to SAP note or any other idea I'll be more than thankful.

Thanks very much!

Regards,

Jose M. Prieto

Hello Jose,

First, download the latest patches available following the link below:

 > Browse our Download Catalog
  > SAP Frontend Components
   | > SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS
   | > SAP GUI FOR WINDOWS 7.20 CORE

   | > BW 3.5 ADDON FOR SAP GUI 7.20
   | > Win32
   |_ > bw350gui720_3-20006857.exe

After installed, implement the following notes:

1435326

1471630

1498947 RRMX: Logon mechanism for 720 GUI.

1477686

This should solve the issue.

Best regards,

Edward John

The particular GUI patch which solved the problem for us was the BW350gui720 patch, in particular bw350gui720_5-20006857, though I believe any level of that BW350gui720 patch would work.

Hi,

Did you try installing your Business Explorer again ?

Because sometimes if the BEx is not installed properly, then you will get these kind of errors.
