error in View: Service cannot be reached

Former Member

Hello,

I am trying to create a WD view in a component.

I am getting the below error and the view layout is not opening.

"Service cannot be reached" and the view layout/preview is not at all visible.

Is there any issue at server side or from my desktop (some file missing for UI)?

Thanks & regards,

Ravish

Go to transaction SICF and check whether the following service is activated.

/sap/bc/wdvd/painting

wdvd is the service responsible for view designer and if it is deactivaed you will get service not reached error

in the layout.

ask your basis team to activate that service.

and also check one more thing right click on the view designer layout and go to properties and see what is the url there.

it will be some http://<; hostname>.<domain name>:<port>/ somethign

then check in the host file of your system whether the host entry for this is available.

thanks

Its because of wdvd service only.

i checked on my system by manually deactivating this service. i am gettign teh same error.

you need to activate that service for it to work.

ask your basis team for the same

its path is

sap/bc/wdvd

ravish,

goto run. type drivers.

2) goto etc folder

3) open hosts as notepad...

4) check the last statement..here you should mention the sapgui ip address of the server you are using.....

if not maintain it i think the problem will resolve else talk to basis team

its not beacuse of host file problem.

in that case you will get page cannot be found error.

you are gettign this service error means host file is updated.

the only way ravish is to activate WDVD

activate the service sap/bc/WDVD.

you can your basis team.

it will hardly take 2 sec.

thanks

ravish,

as you are not able to see the layout also it may be possible that host file is not maintained....and since this is not maintained may be due to this the layout is not maintained have a look once if it is maintained just talk to the basis guys.

Hi ..

Is your problem solved?

Else, try adding the Host ip address as an Exception in your Internet Explorer LAN Settings.

Our Basis team had restarted WDVD but the problem persisted..

Below mentioned steps fixed the issue.

Go to TOOLS>

|->Internet Options

|->CONNECTIONS tab

|-> LAN Settings Button

|-> Click on Advanced Button

|->Under Exceptions Frame, maintain like- 172*
