In preventive maintenance, how can we ensure availability of spare parts?

Hi Guys,

I have a question, appreciate if someone can help out on this issue.

In preventive maintenance, how can we ensure availability of spare parts?

For example, in a maintenance plan, we can enter spare parts in the components tab/section of Task lists. How is availability of these spares ensured? I know spare part reservations are generated when the call is generated (resulting in the creation of service order). However, this is too late for planning the availability of spare parts as call generation (service order generation) is the execution phase of preventive maintenance.

So, is there a way to ensure the availability of spare parts that will be used in the preventive maintenance?

We are going to have integration between ECC6 and APO. Planning of Spare parts needs to be done in APO to ensure the availability of spare parts for preventive maintenance process. Can somebody advise how this can be achieved?

Is there a table or a report in CS/PM module that can be used to check the history of spare parts used against the maintenance plans in the previous year(s)?

Appreciate your inputs.

Best regards,

Abdul Rafey

hi,

Once you attach components in maintenance plans, you need to setup MRP run that takes care of availability of spares requirement as per maint. plans call objects.

For maintenance calls that will get generated in future, the future material requiremnts is not standard, but you may think of using reports that will give future call dates and future requirements.

Hi Anirudh,

Thank you for your reply.

Can you please advice if there are any reports that can be used for future material requirements of future call dates of a maintenance plan?

Hi,

You can use one standard functionality called Call Horizon where you can mention the time in percentage. After you set a %, the call will be generated that much time prior to the Planned Date.

Hence you have enough time to plan/ arrange for the material if it is not in stock.

Hope, this would help you in fixing your problem.

Thanks,

Mohit
