Dear Experts,

We are getting some Sun hardware issues regarding log generation and other firmware issue, our support vendor has recommeded us to apply some Solaris 9 patches on machines. Since we are running SAP R/3 Enterprise 4.7 ext 200 please help me whether following patches are allowed and recommended for smooth functioning of SAP. Please tell if any of patches mentioned have problem in executing SAP. Please also note we are running Oracle 9.2.

My support vendor has explained me that all of these patches are related to hardware i.e. controllers, network cards etc

Kindly recommend.

Hello,

Not every SUN patch is tested by SAP in general recommendation is to

be on latest one.

OK to apply the patches mentioned there should be no issue with SAP.

regards,

First of all:

Be aware that both your system (R/3 4.7) and your database (Oracle 9.x) are already out of support, if you plan to upgrade to Oracle 10g be aware that the support even for that version runs out and end of July.

Make sure you have at least the Solaris patches mentioned in

Note 550585 - SAP relevant patches for Solaris 9 on SPARC

Apart from that I highly consider upgrading the system and the database to a supported version.

Thanks Markus,

Yes we know that we are out support, though we are in customer specific maintnenace support with SAP, we are planning for upgrades.

sapnote 550585 talks about minimum patches to be installed before installation. am I right ?

So can we implement these patches I mentioned on my SUN V880 system without affecting SAP functioning.

Are we aware of known issues with them. Kindly share.

Regard

Waqas
