Difference between srategy profile and strategy tab in heuristics

Hi,

What is the difference between srategy profile (global settings) and strategy tab in heuristics..

while running heuristic which one will be used for schedulling?

why SAP has provided strategy profile separatly?. as per as i know R/3 inetgration profile in global setings makes sence..but i am not sure why they have provided follwing options( strategy profile) in global settings

1)Interactive Planning

2)Integrated DS Plng Bo

3)Planning Run

Hi,

In a new installation of SAP APO 4.0, you always define the strategy settings in the heuristic settings.

After an upgrade to SAP APO 4.0, you can either work with the strategy settings in the heuristic or u2013 as before SAP APO 4.0 u2013 with strategy profiles.

If you want the heuristic to use the strategy settings from the heuristic settings, you set the Use Strategy Settings from Heuristic indicator on the Basic Settings tab page in the heuristic settings. The indicator is not set in the standard system.

If you want the heuristic to use a strategy profile, you do not set the indicator.

In the production planning run, the heuristic uses the strategy profile you specified for the processing step. If you have not specified a strategy profile, the heuristic uses the strategy profile you entered in Customizing for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) under Maintain Global Parameters and Defaults in the Planning Run field.

In interactive planning, the heuristic uses the strategy profile you entered in the Interactive Planning field.

Thanks Nanda for continously guiding APO resource with their issue.

Just to add a point to Nanda's reply, In case of few Heuristics like SAP_PP_002, the setting which Nanda have mentioned in Para 3 is important to note. As you may not see the strategy profile in the step however the heuristic will itself carry stratgy with it.
