Hi,

We are going for the hardware migration for our solution manager system. In solution manager host already wily introscope is installed. What steps need to be taken care during the migration so that wily is also migrated to new hardware box.

Thanks,

Rohan

Hello Rohan,

If your operational system is Windows NT:

Simple copy is not recommended on Windows NT system, however you can give it a try.

Copy the directory of /usr/sap/ccms/wilyintroscope to the new box, run script "RegisterEMService.bat" under the directory, goto service.msc to see if Introscope service is there, if so, start the EM service to see if EM is up and running.

If your operational system is UNIX/AIX:

Please install a new Wily EM and perform the necessary configuration such as the Java heap size and etc.. Then, please copy the contents under the directory /trace and /data to the corresponding directories of the new Wily EM. As the procedure is similar with the procedure of upgrading from 7.0 to 8.0 EM, please refer to the document 'Wily Installation and Upgrade Guide'.

You can follow the UNIX steps for Windows NT as well, as it will migrate all the historical data from one box to another.

Hi,

Where can i get 'Wily Installation and Upgrade Guide'. I am not able to find it under service.sap.com/diagnostics.

What about the configurations done in the current system. We have 7 systems configured and 15 agents are currently reporting to wily introscope.

Thanks,

Rohan

Hello,

The guide is available at http://service.com/diagnostics.

If you are having trouble navigating the page to the guide may I offer the link?

And since you are migrating, nothing is changing on the Host, such as hostname, IP address, etc, so the client systems should still view the migrated system as the original system. UNless you are thinking of changing these system attributes, the change should be transparent to the managed systems.

Paul

Hi Guilherme/Paul,

Other than Wily Introscope, what other E2E RCA related activities we need to take under consideration when we are going for hardware migration. That means the settings (EWA for JAVA, configuration level etc) we define for all 7 system for which 15 agents are reporting.

Thanks,

Rohan
