condition record

Hello ,

I would just like to confirm the following is correct or not:

1. Condition record is generated or retrieved or selected from database at runtime based on the sales order information entered or default values in it.

2. Condition record can be created manually also.

Is a condition record tied to or derived from a Sales order only ?

Must a condition record 1st be manually created or it cannot be automatically derived in the beginning where no manual entries entered for the condition table?

Based on Glossary definition of Condition Record:

Data record with input and output values for a task.

The condition record is created or changed with condition record maintenance and selected in the determination process.

The output values are dependent on chosen input values (for example, customer, customer group, product) and are valid for a certain time period.

A condition record can, for example, contain a specific free-goods discount for a particular product quantity, or a specific discount for a particular business partner.

Hope to get some advice.

regards

Pascal

Condition records are created basically for pricing.Whenever price is calculated then the conditions apply in other words the system determines prices from information stored in Condition records.Inside a sales order while calculating pricing the system uses information stored in Condition records.

I can give you a simple example.

A customer places his order for a certain material for certain quantity on a certain date. Here we notice that there are some variable factors like-the product, the customer, the order quantity, the date. The pricing will depend on all these variable factors. In SAP we store all this variable data in the form of Master data. This master data is stored in the form of Condition records.

With this I hope 3 things I have answered -Why Condition records are required? What factors affect Condition records? In sap they are stored in what form?

Now let me clarify how it is created. In sap we create it manually using tcode VK11 or VK31.We can create Condition records for Pricing,Discounts/Surcharges/Freight/Taxes.Apart from this we can also create them for outputs/free goods/rebates etc.

They can also be created with reference to some template or earlier created Condition records.

Now Condition records can be Header Condition records whose data is applicable to complete document or they can be Manual Condition records. The Manual Condition records are not determined automatically as they do not have access sequence in them. They have to be inserted manually inside the pricing procedure.Where as the Header conditions are determined automatically using access sequence.

I think I am able to satisfy your query on condition records.

Hi,

Let's try to understand what's the role of a Condition Record.

Where ever we found Condition Technique, condition records can appears there.

Condition technique consist of A procedure, Procedure consist of single or multiple condition types and for any condition type value can be derived manually at the run time or through condition records (automatically) through Access Sequnece. And access sequence consists of tables.

Lets try to understand the common condition technique that we all are familiar with, Pricing.

As you know Sales Pricing consists of multiple Condition Types e.g Price, fright, discount taxes..etc

now suppose if we know that taxes are dependent on certain criteria and they remained fixed for fiscal year. Then for condition types relevant for taxes will be assigned with a access sequence.

This access sequence will contain single or multiple Tables, these Tables will be nothing but the combination of fields or criteria which can dermine the tax values.

Suppose tax is detmined 1st criteria of : type of material , Plant where it get manufactured and state of ship to party

and secondly it can also get calculated only on the type of material .

Then you will need to create two condition tables with the combination of fileds considered above.

and as you know the tax values at the begining of the year you can create condition records through VK11 manually or through LSMW at the begining, depending upon the possible number of condition records.

Now as we discussed multiple condition types at Sales Pricing, let's take a example of price.

Now if price of your material is fluctuating because it depends on metals like gold, silver etc whose cost is changing every day.

Now as we are not sure about the price of a such material we will not create condition records in advance, but instead when ever sales order is getting created we will manually enter the price for respective condition type.

As condition records are dependent of Access sequence, which is assigned to a Condition types based on the nature of a condition type and condition types are derived based on the procedure.

And pricing is dependent of Sales document pricing procedure, Customer Pricing procedure & Sales area.

Hence u can get an idea that conditions records are not only dependent on sales document but apart from that it depends on several other components as well.

Thank You,

RB

Mr.Gabin

One more point, you need to keep in mind..

Condition record is a master data, NOT a transaction data.

hi pascal,

this is to inform you that,

no it is not dependent on the sales order alone & there are several parameters to consider for the same.

1. pricing procedure - sequence of condition types they appear in pricing procedure

2. pricing procedure determination.

3. finally condition's key combination for condition record creation.

hope this clears your issue.
