Hi Siva,

No you cannot restore the backup using Netbackup if you have taken the backup using Brtools.

Hi,

You have the option to restore an SAP database to a client other than the one that originally supplied the backup but in taht case:

1. The source client and destination client must have identical computer system architectures, OS versions, and bit levels.

2. The source client and destination client must have identical Oracle RDBMS levels.

But in your case envrionment is different even bit levels. So its not possibiel to restore the backup.

If you backed up on Solaris SPARC your files are saved as BigEndian files. Those can't be read by Windows because Windows is implemented as LittleEndian.

What you're trying to do is a heterogeneous system migration. This requires a certified migration consultant on-site, otherwise you'll loose SAP support for problems during the migration and you also loose support for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration --> FAQ).

I suggest you export the database on the source system using sapinst and R3load and use that export to install the system on the target server. That's the standard way of doing such a migration. Backup/restore does not work due to the endianess difference on both systems, even if you were able to technically get the files from the backup media.

Hi Siva,

You backup your SAP using BRTOOLS on Windows.

Now you want to restore to another environment (Solaris) ? I don't think this is possible.

You need to restore on the same environment just to make sure that your data is the same data as you backup.

You can use client export/import. This is possible although there are no guarantee that this new system will run smoothly
