Upgrade Oracle from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4

Hi,

My SAP ecc 6.0 is currently running on Oracle Win (64bit) Enterprise 10.2.0.2. I was advised to upgrade it to 10.2.0.4.

But I'm not able to find the upgrade patches in the SAP software downloads.

Please kindly show me the path to the patches. Is it under Software Downloads -> Database Patches... ?

TIA !

Hi,

Please read ther OSS note 871735.

It describes the path to download and then uncompress zip file.

Then execute command runInstall to install patchset 10.2.0.4 from 10.2.0.2

You cannot use oPtach or mopatch.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

According to your recommended OSS note, I downloaded all the bin files and then concat them using:

copy *.bin /B oracle_1024_patches.zip /B

However, I'm not able to open the zip file.

Please help to verify.

TIA !

The detailed instruction on how to copy the files are documented under note 509314.

BTW, you can also should be able to download the complete zip file from marketplace from the database patches --> 10204_Patch38_MSWIN-x86-64.zip

Hi,

10204_Patch38_MSWIN-x86-64.zip is for Oracle 10.2.04 and the patch is done via opatch.

My base is 10.2.02. Need to upgrade to 10.2.04 via the windows exe.

I've also followed the instructions.

D:\Temp>copy Patchset_10204MSWINx8664aa.bin /B + Patchset_10204MSWINx8664ab.bin

/B + Patchset_10204MSWINx8664ac.bin /B oracle_patchset_1024.zip

Patchset_10204MSWINx8664aa.bin

Patchset_10204MSWINx8664ab.bin

Patchset_10204MSWINx8664ac.bin

1 file(s) copied.

But I'm not able to open the zip file.

Can anyone please help to verify ?

TIA !

What error message do you get when you try to unzip?

Sometimes files get corrupted during download. So try again.

And compare file sizes that you see in SAP market place and on your disk!

Cannot open file : it does not appear to be a valid archive.

If you downloaded this file, try downloading the file again.

I had downloaded twice. Same error.

May be you're right. The third file should be 270MB but the downloaded file is only 3MB.

Thanks !

I had nagivated to x86-64 (64bit) since my platform is intel 64bit. I had tried to apply using the patch using Opatch but failed because my release is not in 10.2.0.4. I think the patches are for those that are already in 10.2.0.4 release.

There's a couple of files in bin format. May I know what are they for ?

In the same location you will find .bin files which you need to concatenate to get a single patch dump.

In that dump you will find the OUI and you willl also find a readme.xml file which will help you to proceed.

Hi,

copy /b Patchset_10204MSWINx8664aa.binPatchset_10204MSWINx8664ab.binPatchset_10204MSWINx8664ac.bin Patchset_10204.bin

So, what do I do with Patchset_10204.bin ?

Sorry, I have to request the SAP admin guy to download the OSS note. I hope to extract out the files from the combined bin earlier.

TIA !

Database patches >> Oracle >> Oracle 10.2.0.4 >> Database RDBMS >> select your platform

Follow the Upgrade guide, It will show you the entire steps and path on how to apply the patchset.
