Shipment doubts

Hello ,

I have not used Shipment system or module before. I need some help in clarifying some doubts on it.

1. Can you describe simply difference between Transportation Cost and Shipment Cost? Are they not the same thing?

2. What is a Transport Document compared to a Shipment Document compared to Shipment cost document?

3. Why shipping units cannot be changed after copying from DO?

adding to it - shipment document is used to capture shipment details other than cost.

Shipment Cost doc. determines pricing procedure. It creates a service Po in background (to do transporter's invoice verification against) and creates vendor liability in accounting.

1. I come across only Shipment Cost and not Transportation Cost. In fact, Transportation is a separate module.

2. Again transport document is nothing but Shipment Document being generated from VT01N which is different from

Shipment Cost document. Document generated from VT01N would be issued to Transporters whereas, documents

generated from VI01 would be used internally.
