Hello Professionals,
I have not done backorder processing and hope you can help me understand it.
The following is literature on backorders:
"Manual with backorder processing
. You can use backorder processing to list sales docs for materials and to process them manually with reference to the Confirmation. This means that ATP qty's can be Re-assigned and any shortfall can be cleared."
Pls advise the following based on the above:
1. Does 'Confirmation' here means initially confirmed sales order schedule line qty or is it that the company will call customers to ask if they would like to continue receiving the open qty when stock is replenished?
regards
Pascal
Hi Pascal,
Confirmation in back order processing means the orders with confirmed quantity and schedule lines.Using back order processing u can change the confirmed stock and allocate the same to other orders depending on the urgency of a particular material.
This means that ATP qty's can be Re-assigned and any shortfall can be cleared."
Yes the atp can be changed, and reassigned to the shortfall orders and can be cleared.
Use t.code V_RA to process the back orders.
Regards,
Ramesh.

When you do back order processing, system will, based on certain parameters, allocate the available stocks to all open orders. But you can change this behaviour manually via VA02; that is you can allocate the stocks to any order that is not confirmed during back order processing.
