Common divisions

Can anybody validate following statements

a. Common divisions are used for grouping several products is it correct?

b Common diisions are valid for all products in a product group?

c. whether crossdivision is possible in sales dc or not is controled by item categories?

Pls clarify above doubts.

Hi,

a. Common divisions are used for grouping several products is it correct?

The common divisions are used to facilitate easy data management in master data , ie if you want same customers to be used in different divisions like 10 - say retail and 12 - service ,then 00 division - common for both 10 & 12 is used and the cust master data is used for both.

Here you while entering in xd01 you enter 00 instead of entering 10 or 12 for eg and enter single data for 2 div.

b Common diisions are valid for all products in a product group?

Divisions are called product line and may contain a range of product like car / services etc.So answer is yes it is valid.

c. whether crossdivision is possible in sales dc or not is controled by item categories?

When you enter order say OR for eg you want to enter different divisions . Cross division helps to enter entering products of different divisions in a order . It is not controlled by item category.

Dear Krishna,

Common divisions are used to define common master data for condition records and Cust master Data.

e.g 00 is a division and you define it as a common division for all other divisions then you need not create the condition records and cust master data for each division whatever you create for 00 will be applicable for all the other divisions.

As far as your 3 pt is concerned i think its controlled in the settings for Order type.
