Visual composer with shared repository

Hello experts,

As anyone developed Visual Composer models and used the shared repository?

Background:

We understand that the shared repository should be used for experimentation and learning. We wish to use a remote NWDI source control but right now, the integration between the two is not fully working. So, as a workaround in order to allow our developers to work, we are using the shared repository, knowing they might have to rework their models when the CE NWDI integration issue will be resolved. We are creating less than five applications and one is pretty complex (involves Integrated planning). The team involves two developers.

Questions:

1. We noticed that the only available Software component is sap.com.SoftwareComponent and that our development components are created under temp/. For exemple, if I create a development component name mydc, under the Shared Repository structure, I will see sap.com_SoftwareComponent and under it temp/mydc. Is there a way to use a defined Software Component, such as mycompany.com_mysoftwarecomponent? The reason why we are asking is that if we are not able to resolve our NWDI-NCE integration issue in time, we plan to manually export and import our models to next environment.

2. Since it is not possible to delete models already checked in the shared repository, what are the impacts, if any, of leaving one there (one that was created for learning purpases)?

Thank you very much for all your help.

Best regards,

Nathalie

Hi,

maybe it would be easier to create some test DC that can be deleted as soon as you don't need it anylonger. Deletion of DCs is possible in shared repository while deletion of single models isn't.

In NWA, go to Configuration Management->Infrastructure->Java System Properties. Click the Services tab and search for "VisualComposer". Here you can change the ds.env.sharedworkspace properties.
