Creating Material in SRM directly

Dear All,

Is it possible to create all the master records directly in SRM ? Because when i am trying to replicate the master data from ECC in SRM using t code R3AS, i am getting error as *Hierarchy for material types does not exist

Message no. COM_PRODUCT_API000 *

Even i tried to create Material using commpr01, but here there is no category.

Hi,

You can use transaction COMM_HIERARCHY to create category data if you do not wish to use replication, however, it is always advised by SAP to replicate material and hierarchy data from an attached ERP system if it is possible.

I have created Hierarchy / category using comm_hierarchy, but when i am trying to create a material/ service using commpr01, there is no values at category field. What i need to do now ?

is there any link using that i can create category in right way ?

Hi CB,

Problem could be due to :

1) Material types, material groups are not replicated to SRM from ERP

I hope you followed the sequence of download objects.

2) Other reason might be that Product hierarchy is maintained ERP material. If this is the case, you need to maintain category numbering scheme. See note 432339.
