how to configure sap maxdb client to connect to SAP ERP system (SAP HR)

Hello all,

I am currently installing live cache for SAP ERP HR application(Idoc), can anybody tell me the sequence to proceed to configure SAP livecache with SAP ERP system. i am doing following steps

1. Install SAP DB using installation MAXDB CDs

2. Install SAP Livecache and standalone server SCM 5.0 using SAP ERP master and Livecache dvds.

3. install Livecache client fromSAP ERP master and livecache dvds between SAP ERP and livecache server.

4. configure in LC10, tcode.

but when i press on livecache monitoring in LC10 it gives me following error.

Perform the connection test in transaction DB59 marking the line "LCA". The output of the connection test will give you hints on the problem.

when i press on connection test in column Check result mouse over tell me No MAXDB Client is installaed.

Althoug i installed a client on ERP server but i havent done any configuration to connect to SAP MAxDB, do i need to do somehing in SAP ERP side or MaxDB side?

I am not sure about the same.

This sounds like you have forgotten to mantain the Environment Variables of the OS user under which the SAP system is running. In this case you'll get the error 'No MaxDB client software installed". To fix it logon on to the application server on OS level with user-Id = <SID>ADM. Then check if PATH= contains the directory C:\sapdb\programs\bin (or similar if you have installed the client software on another drive). If it doesn't contain it, insert it manually. If your OS is UNIX/LINUX additionally check if LD_LIBRARY_PATH= contains the directory /sapdb/programs/lib. If it doesn't contain it, insert it manually. After doing these two changes and after restarting the server everything should work fine.

i tried the said things and after that i am getting following error in DB59, first three steps are successful but 4 one is failing.

3. Determine status using TCP/IP connection SAPDB_DBM_DAEMON (DBMRFC session mode)

Your original problem is solved.

Your new problem is a very basic one: You have input the wrong DBA user and/or the wrong Password in LC10/DB59. The DBA user by default is SAP<SID> or SAPR3 and the Password by defautl is SAP.

Thanks a lot, i got an error after correcting this. the error was LiveCache was not Unicode enabledd. so i re-installed live cache server and client software using MaxDB Cds. then it worked fine.
