Hello,
We are regularly facing the same issue on our ECC6 production system
(HPUX Itanium 10.31,Oracle 10.2)
The gateway becomes unreachable (impossible to run the transaction SMGW for example)
And here are the logs of the dev_rd file :
Sun Jan 2 10:42:19 2011
***LOG Q0I=> NiIAccept: accept (24: Too many open files)
ERROR => NiIAccept: SiAccept failed for hdl 0 / sock 10
(SI_EMFILE/24; I4; ST; own high 255; max hds 2048)
GwRebind: rebind service sapgw00 (socket) to port 3300
Sun Jan 2 10:42:23 2011
***LOG Q0I=> NiIAccept: accept (24: Too many open files)
ERROR => NiIAccept: SiAccept failed for hdl 0 / sock 10
(SI_EMFILE/24; I4; ST; own high 255; max hds 2048)
GwRebind: rebind service sapgw00 (socket) to port 3300
It looks like some network issues, but I do not have any tangible proof.
Any idea ?
Thank you very much
Bonne année 2011.
Regards.
Raoul
Just a thought,
Can you check the ulimit parameter for <sid>adm user. Is it as per the installation document

Here are the paramters
ulimit -a
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 1048576
stack(kbytes) 8192
memory(kbytes) unlimited
coredump(blocks) 4194303
nofiles(descriptors) 4096
I do not know if these values need to be increased
I just checked sap note 172747 SAP on HP-UX: OS kernel parameter recommendations, but the aforementionned paramters are not indicated.
Regards.

Hi,
Please refer to installation guide for ECC 6 on HP UX and Oracle page 87.
The recommendations here are
time(seconds) unlimited
file(blocks) unlimited
data(kbytes) 2097148
stack(kbytes) 8192
coredump(blocks) unlimited
nofiles(descriptors) 8192
memory(KBytes) unlimited
Important is nofiles , your current settings are half of recommended
Please try adjusting and check if it solves your problem.
