Mass transport of printers results in "Printer xxx not defined"

We maintain all our printers in our DEV system. When we built our QA system, we had some printers setup directly in there, but in order to keep the two environments consistent, we deleted all the QA printers and then, from DEV, did a mass transport (TRANSPORT ALL) of printers from tcode SPAD.

In reviewing SPAD in the QA system, all the printers, definitions, etc. are present. But when people try to send output to them, there is an error "Printer xxx not defined".

The strange solution is to go into the individual printer definitions and do something as simple as changing the IP address to something and then back again (saving both times). Then the printer works.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Hi David,

I personally don't have any transport methodology used for printers Instead I done Export / Import couple of time which worked fine for me the steps are:

SPAD => Utilities => For output devices => Select Export

On the next screen provide the path for the file name something like : c:\export_printer_qas.txt

select the operation as : Export

on the Options select : Execute export / Generate log

And finally put * for output device under object for export.

kindly try above method and let us know if this works.

Thanks,

Salim
