customizing

Hello,

I just would like to clarify one thing about customizing vs master data settings.

1. Availabiliity check is activated if a Material requires Avail check or avail check is set in customizing.

so, probably this means set in Master data (Material master) or sale order type and SPRO.

So, is turning on certain settings in Master data considered as a form of 'Customizing' or is Customizing ONLY meaning settings done specifically via SPRO?

Thank you.

regards

Tom

hi tom;

this is to inform you that

customizing and master data is inter linked here - from one angle and they are different from another angle.

HOW ?

you have created one sales order type from copying OR that means you are using that one which is already existing - here you are not customizing any thing. After copying the OR to ZOR changing its control feeatures according to your requriment is called customizing.

the same case with Avail check.

it depends on client requriment that to activate or de activate AC but here you will copy or create new settings on your onw if requriment is different from standard which SAP has already provided to us in AC

once this is set; then you can take the same to master data and set in the system that if this material is there it has to work on the transaction process like this and master data settings are fixed any where in any client.

hope this clarifies your issue

Hi Tom,

Answer:

No , the setting in Master Data is specific to a material Create or Change Data . Data could be related to credit management, availability check etc .This triggers the tables which you maintain (customising) in IMG.

So Customizing ONLY means settings done specifically via SPRO.While what you do in master data is only maintaining data for material specific.

Thanks

Dear Mr.Tom

If you want to control any parameter/setting SPECIFIC to any customer, material, vendor, etc etc.... that can be controlled in the respective masters.

This OVERRIDES the SPRO settings for that specific case.

No, customizing is changing the reference IMG to suit the business requirements. In this case, for example in IMG activating availability check at schedule line level or not. Whereas master data are created at transactional level and can be used for fine tuning, for example excluding a material from availability check by changing the checking group in the material master MRP3 view to no check.

Not able to understand what exactly your query is. As for as availability check is concerned, it is a combination of both material master settings and configuration setting.

For example, even if you set availability check in material master but not set in configuration, system wont check for availability and vice versa.

If the above is not answered, then please be clear in your question.

thanks
