DDIC Password

After making all the necessary patches to SLES11 (with maxDB) and installing SAP erp the instance starts and I get the message

****************

Test logon to SAP System XXX failed.

SOLUTION: Make sure that the system is started, that the user DDIC

exists and that the password of user DDIC is correct.

****************

just before the post installation activities.

What could be the reason for this ?

Hello,

The reason for the install failing is it is unable to logon with user

DDIC. When sapinst logs on with DDIC it uses the default password.

I suspect that this password has been changed.

Could you please logon to the system with user DDIC. If you can

logon you will then need to set the password to the default. This

will allow the install to continue.

Is your system Up and Running?

Are you able to logon to client 000 with DDIC?

Hi,

Is this a system copy?

Are you able to login to SAP from GUI using DDIC or SAP*? if so let me know.

I have a workaround.

The ddic password which was defined earlier in the installation process does not seem to be correct and the sapinst cannot start the postinstalltion jobs as ddic user.

Try to login the system (it should already be up) and set the password of the ddic user according to the definition in the sapinst process. Once that is done the step can be repeated and should work just fine.

Kind regards,
