MaxDB on VMWare - Xuser to change

Former Member

Dear all,

I do have the following problem. Let's explain our architecture :

1. P1C is our main productive system, running on CRMPROD1

2. P1C is our 'restored" system running on CRMPPROD7.

3. Both virtual serveurs are running on the samed physical server.

4. I have restored P1C-CRMPROD1 to P1C-CRMPROD7.

5. Now, when I start P1C-CRMPROD7, it connects to ... P1C-CRMPROD1 database, not to its own P1C-CRMPROD7 database.

I have found the reason. When I start the OS command :

xuser list, I get the following answer :

====================================================================================================

CRMPPROD7:p1cadm 51> xuser list

Question :

Do you know how to replace the 'Nodename' properties for all users, replacing them from CRMPROD1 to CRMPROD7 ?

Thanks

Best regards

VMWare "cloning" is not supported to create system copies, too many things would need to be adapted manually that are not documented.

Dear Markus,

Thanks for your input.

In other term, I can restore P1C to CRMPROD7 if this virtual server is not running on the same physical server as CRMPROD1.

1. P1C-source system runs on CRMPROD1 virtual server. This virtual server runs on Vmserv01 physical server.

2. P1C-restore system runs on CRMPROD7 virtual server. This virtual server runs on Vmserv07 physical server.

This system copy will be possible ?

Best regards

You will need to run sapinst to adapt the environment, profiles and permissions. How you then restore the database itself doesn't matter.

You need to follow Note 129352 - Homogeneous system copy with MaxDB (SAP DB)

hi,

change the SAPDBHOST value in the profile settings, and also ensure that the environment variables point to the CRMPROD7.
